Oil Filter

A must have companion to any oil change is changing your car’s oil filter too. Years ago when customers requested that a garage do an oil change it was not a given task to replace an oil filter unless owners asked to have it done. As bizarre as that sounds today, an oil filter is a necessary part of any oil change. Without a new oil filter in place you are recycling old oil and not letting your filter do its job, which is to filter out harmful particles that can damage your engine. There are three types of oil filters on the market: standard oil filters which are designed to filter out about 95% of the potentially damaging particles; heavy duty filters which are designed to provide additional filtration and features to accommodate stop and go driving, dirty and dusty roads, and extremes in temperature which the oil characteristics alter; and extended life filters that have extra filtering ability to keep them from getting clogged as fast.
